Alton W. “Ducky” Kohn, 88, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at his daughter’s home, surrounded by his family. Alton was born on September 25, 1935, to Oliver John Frank Kohn and Johnnella L. (Haggart) Kohn.

Alton loved Jesus Christ and lived his life as a reflection of Him. He sought to glorify Him in all he did. After his love for God, he loved his family. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids, as well as extended family and friends. They were the joy of his life.

Al was a graduate of Waite High School and a proud member of the U.S. Naval Reserves. He was employed at A&P grocery store in Point Place for 14 years, a supervisor at Dupont for 27 years and Calvary Church for 25 years, finally retiring at the age of 85.

He was an active member of Northpoint Church of the Nazarene in Point Place and had a love for the church body and a heart for service. Al also was an active member of the Stateline Barbershop Chorus for 64 years, literally singing with them until the day before his death.

Other hobbies and interests included golfing, sailing, hockey (including coaching), a member of the American Legion and the Gideon’s International.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be greatly missed.

Alton is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth A (Dobson) Kohn; children, James (Becky) Kohn, Kenneth (Lisa B.) Kohn, Mark (Lisa A.) Kohn, Kimberly (Jamie) Lechman; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Russell Kohn, and sisters, Alice Belfy, Sandra Wurst and Shonna Doran. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter Kohn; sister, Laura Tucker, and grandson, Kurt Kohn.

Visitation was from 2 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, March 7, at David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 North Summit Street, Toledo, with the Stateline Chorus at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Friday, March 8, at 11 a.m., Pastor Donna Ebanks, presiding. Burial will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park in Toledo.
