Carol June Boyer, 94, of Marysville, Ohio (formerly of Toledo) passed away April 4, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Marysville. She had resided at Heritage Senior Living in Marysville for the past three years. She was born July 23, 1929, in Bowling Green, to Raymond and Violet (Cooley) Clouser. Carol graduated, with honors, from Bowling Green High School, where she was recognized for her academic, artistic and leadership endeavors. After high school, she worked as a controller at H.J. Heinz Tomato factory in Bowling Green.

Carol met her future husband, LaMar Boyer, while ice skating at the former Toledo Sports Arena. They were married for 60 years, until LaMar passed away in January of 2014. The couple had six children together.

Carol had a very full life. She worked diligently to provide wonderful learning experiences for the children. There were art lessons every Saturday at the Toledo Art Museum during the school year. Every child was given an opportunity to learn an instrument. Each summer, everyone helped in the garden to grow lovely tomatoes, rhubarb, asparagus and many other fruits and vegetables. Of course, in the fall harvest, everyone learned and helped in canning the bounty from the garden. Manhattan Nazarene Church was an integral

component of family life. Carol taught second grade Sunday School class for many years. She loved her young charges dearly. She also was very involved in planning and executing many memorable church activities such as mother-daughter banquets, Halloween parties and various other church functions.

Besides raising six children, she served as the bookkeeper to her husband’s construction business. Carol had an extraordinary eye for detail in maintaining records for his business and helped LaMar be successful in his business. The Palm Sunday tornado of 1965 destroyed the new family home. The youngest child was only two months old. However, through lots of hard work and support from others, the family was back in the home one year later.

Once the children were grown and gone, Carol and LaMar began ballroom dancing. They enjoyed the experience at many local events, as well as on cruises. The Toledo

Blade and Point Place newspapers featured them, numerous times, at Toledo ballroom dances. Whitmer High School hosts a Senior Citizen Prom. A photograph of Carol and LaMar dancing has been featured on the Whitmer senior prom brochure over many years. In addition to dancing, Carol filled her days with gardening. She was widely known as the “Tomato Lady,” as she would grow and sell tomatoes from 60 to 80 tomato plants. To fulfill her artistic nature, Carol also learned to paint ceramics, “toyed” with making doll houses and accessorizing them, and made a number of wreaths and floral arrangements for local craft shows.

In her later years, Carol befriended several neighbor ladies. She encouraged them, taught gardening and canning techniques to them, and was a comforting source of wisdom for these precious ladies. Her church family, at Northpoint Church of the Nazarene, was very dear to her and engaged her in various outings and activities for special time together in Christian fellowship.

She loved her family and loved the Lord Jesus Christ.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Zoah May Clouser Meade; brother, Donald Eugene Clouser; grandson, Joshua David Huffman, and greatgranddaughter, Mabel Jeffers. She is survived by daughters, Carla (David) Huffman of Marysville, Sherry (Robert) Bartz of Kathleen, Georgia, and Beth Caldwell of Midlothian, Virginia; sons, David (Jenae) Boyer of Salt Lake City, Utah, Brian Boyer of Toledo, and Timothy (Faith) Boyer of Petersburg, Michigan; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 13, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Northpoint Church of the Nazarene, 5825 Suder Avenue, Toledo. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., where Rev. Donna Ebanks will preside. Burial follows at Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe Street, Sylvania.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to the Northpoint Church of the Nazarene.
