Joseph C. Mossing, 80, of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the Gardens of St. Francis in Oregon, Ohio.

He was born on April 11, 1943, in Toledo, to the late Harold and Flossie (Barth) Mossing.

Joseph graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Assumption in 1961.

Joseph was a U.S Army veteran, having served his country proudly and honorably.

He was a meat manager at Millers Supervalu in Swanton, then meat cutter and sausage manager at Lee Williams House of Meats for 34 years.

In his leisure, Joseph loved playing euchre, could fix anything and helped neighbors with chores. He was a former Cub Scout Master, Pack 123, in the early 80’s and coached the scouts’ softball league. He also was an avid blood donor.

Joseph was a former Swanton K of C, Third Degree member, and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Toledo.

He is lovingly missed by his wife of 55 years, Janice M. (Slaninka) Mossing; children, Lawrence (Rebecca) Mossing, Gregory (Amy) Mossing and Sarah (Christopher) Kos; grandchildren, Taylor and Christopher (Cassidy) Kos, Nicholas and Emily Mossing, and Tucker and Cassidy Mossing; siblings, Robert (Nancy) Mossing, Judy (Lyle) Hite, Patricia Mossing, Joan (Darryl) Elton, Rebecca (Ronald) Ehrsam, John (Jeannie) Mossing, Bernadette (Ken) Mierzwinski and Michael Mossing, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Wymer; brother, Mark Mossing, and an infant grandson.

Visitation was Thursday, February 15, from 3 to 7 p.m. at David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 North Summit Street, Toledo. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. on Friday, February 16, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 5153 North Summit Street, Toledo. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Assumption, Ohio.
